The best part is though you don’t have to go to the next stage. It looks like they use methane for propulsion. Once you are the biggest organism, or if you absorb the right targets you are given an option to continue to the next stage. Each level is simply about starting as a small circular organism and trying to absorb the other organisms that are smaller than you so you can become bigger (hey… didn’t I just play this game?). Osmos is refreshing in the sheer lack of crazy gameplay innovations it presents to you. They never actually became part of the gameplay, they were simply new visual stimuli all based around pressing “X”. Sadly each time a new gameplay element was introduced it was used and discarded before you could truly enjoy it. I remember playing Black Ops 2 and at first being impressed with the sheer variety of things you could do in the missions. Most games we play these days are all about going from set piece to set piece without taking a moment to simply indulge in the world in front of you. The game is all about reaching a sort of interactive zen, something I have not experienced in a game for quite some time. Sure there are objectives, but you will not see a timer or anything to rush you forward. Even while playing the levels there is nothing that really pushes you forward to completing them. Levels are not in a sequential order, instead you can pick and choose which set of levels you want to tackle. Osmos has no story, no narrative to push the player forward. Boy all those beers really made me… rounder… So far I have been lucky to play quite a few excellent titles, and the most recent game Osmos has proven itself as a unique, but compelling experience that shows a different side of video games. Now I simply click a button and the game is chosen for me. I am no longer having to stare at this gargantuan list of titles with no path in sight. Well worth a visit.Using Steam Roulette to pick my games for me has honestly made for a better playing experience. If you like museums it's great, not going to take hours to see and has some fascinating exhibits. I won't spoil that any more but I won't forget it. It contains all of the badges of officers killed on duty in the NYPD and is very very moving. The top floor has the reflection room and hit us both very hard. There's a little area for kids, a very well stocked shop for NYPD stuff (much better range than the tourist shops selling hoodies and caps all over manhattan. It has exhibits of the original police officers, through the 1930s gangsters/ Al Capone era, through the the 1970s and into current times and 9/11. It's located right down by the east river helipads and from memory it's the only remaining "original" police building from the 1800's.

If you are in the police (from anywhere) you get a discount on entry, it may have even been free but I can't remember. It's not very busy and will only take you an hour or two to get round. We went on a couple long weekend away and we're made very welcome. Tickets are very reasonable and the free drinks and party snacks are definitely a plus (hard to get anything for free in NYC these days). Previous artists are frequently on hand mingling and answering questions personally about their artwork created right here. Their unique concept hooked me from the first time I attended and made me come back the next two Fridays to see the piece as it evolved over three weeks.

They are also super passionate about what they do so much so that their energy is contagious.

The creators Anthony and Adriane are extremely hospitable to each and every guest…you feel like you’ve known them forever. Well designed gallery, courteous and fun bartenders, servers and door men/women, eclectic and classy guests and most of all talented artists painting right in front of you while collaborating on their work with you. This should be on everyone’s checklist! If you are visiting NYC, this is THE place to go to whether you are serious about art or serious about having a good time around some awesome art.
